I just recently - over the last month - started occasionally having some incoming emails that are in HTML format show up as Plain Text. I've verified that the setting was not changed, and thia doesn't happen all the time. It's obviously something within Outlook because I was reading an HTML email this morning, clicked on another email, went back to the other one and it was then in Plain Text. After doing some Googling, it appears this issue has come up for other people over the last 2 - 3 months. Perhaps a update for Office that caused this?
TIA for any help or insight.
Here's the posts on other sites I found about this problem:

Is the email being marked as spam/junk by any security software you have installed or was it moved to a different folder?
In Outlook go to Tools --> Trust Center then select E-mail Security and see if Read as Plain Text is checked.

I went in and the Plain Text box was not checked. I then did check it, and went and checked an email that was showing up as HTML before. Now it was in Plain Text. Went back in, unchecked it, hit OK, went back to that email, and it was in HTML. However, the ones that were in Plain Text before are still in that format. Odd.
Alan, it was not marked as anything nor moved to a different folder. I did recently upgrade to AVG 8, but I turned off the email scanner and still had the same problem. So, still no clue.

Just to update this for anyone else who has the problem. It apparently was an issue with the new AVG 8. The text certification it was putting at the end of the incoming emails was causing some to only show up as text and not html. Weird that it only did it on certain ones and still did it when I closed AVG down, but with the certification turned off, everything is back to normal.
Interesting - thanks for the update.
I've installed AVG many times and always turn the certification off. Just a habit.
