Full Version: Any Digital Prints Deals?

Hi!
I need a place to develop a few digital pictures while I do my research on photo printers. I have no idea what printer to get yet, so in the meantime I thought I'd see if there were any cheap places or some free prints deals out there.

Thanks,
Sarinne

DotPhoto is something friends of mine have used. You get 30 prints free (with a catch) for signing up and then 3x5 or 4x6 prints are $0.29/print.

The catch is the 30 prints come 10 per month for two months and the last 10 if you sign up for a paid subscription program. The subscription program lowers the per-print prices. For instance, if you sign up for a $4.99/month subscription your prints go down to $0.19/print for 4x6. Of course, larger prints also get a discount.

Anyway, I saw prints from them and my friends were happy.

Another online store (I have no experience with them) is http://www.snapfish.com/ - Looks like you get 10 free and then "as low as" $0.25/print. Maybe there's a catch there, I don't know.

Amazon seems to have partnered with "Ofoto" (link here). Prices a little higher, $0.39-$0.49 for 4x6 prints depending on volume.

Many stores such as Target and Walmart are now doing cheap prints (~$0.30/print) in the store as well. Walmart seems to have an online photo development deal and also you can submit them online and then go to the store for pickup to avoid shipping fees.

Oh, and my recommendation is not to bother with a photo printer unless you need your prints immediately. You really will find it hard to beat a price of $0.30 per print in terms of cost for the print supplies, and you also have the initial investment in the printer. If you need prints immediately, though, I understand why you would need one.

I used shutterfly before, and they are ALWAYS sending me specials in my e-mail inbox.

I also have a photo printer:HP Photosmart 130 Photo Printer and I love it.

shutterfly.com homepage shows 15 free 4x6 prints (you have to pay s&h though and not sure how much that is).

http://www.photoaccess.com/index.jsp has 10 free prints offer. not sure if involves s&h or not.

You can upload them to walmart and pick them up online for 26 cents each...

Yes, I've used ClubPhoto once back in May. Their photos are fine, though slightly darker than what I expected. However, since I've only done digital prints once, I don't really know how it compares to other places. Here's a coupon for them:

20% off $20+
Code: buy20get20

Just bumping this thread for Dotphoto's Summer deal of .19 cent print till 8/31/04. Quality is pretty good but you have to pay for shipping but at the rate the gas prices are going, it may be cheaper to pay them to ship it to you than drive yourself smile.gif
Oh, incidentally, this week's Walgreens ad had a coupon for 10 FREE digital prints. YMMV since I don't know if this is available nationwide.

I'm pretty happy with snapfish. As mentioned above, first 10 are free (plus shipping) and currently 4x6 are 19 cents each. I got a batch of prints and I'm happy with the quality; I'll actually be ordering from them again soon 'cause I forgot to upload all the ones I wanted the first time :-p

Costco has great prices on large 10x12 in (I think).
I've had good results with my local Walgreens too.

Need to print a couple hundred pics. Any ideas on the best deal?
cron
What kind of quality were you looking for? and do you want to order them all at once from one place?

Walgreens has been doing 50 prints for $5 every few months.

YorkPhoto.com and ClarkColor.com are doing 8 cent prints. Shipping costs may vary, so that's something to factor in.

There's a bunch of freebie offers generally for new customers: (quality varies widely though)

some may charge shipping too, but it's a good way to try out a few different one's to find places with the quality you want.

Offers:
Shipping Charges:
  • ArtsCow - $5.99 / 100
  • Winkflash - $.99 / 50
  • PhotoMama - $3.03 / 50
  • Photoworks - $3 / 50
  • Snapfish - $3.44 / 50 (+$.29 NYS tax)
  • FujiFilm - $3.19 / 50

Thanks cron, I ended up ordering them from CVS online. I needed 274 4x6 prints and after their 60FOR40 coupon, I'm paying $29.10 for in-store pickup (5-7days). Not a bad deal. I don't mind waiting. I was tempted to go with Walmart.com since they advertise prints for 9 cents each but after you pay for shipping, not so good.

Anywhere I can print out larger pictures so I would be able to frame it?

i was thinking to give this a shot: http://www.bargainshare.com/index.php?showtopic=163868

It's a little different since it's on a canvas-like material. Apparently with some glass in front, that turns out decent.

ArtsCow is in HK. I just got some photo playing cards from them and I was happy. ($3.xx shipped!)

Make sure your picture has high enough MP to go so big. (if you don't know, you can upload to Shutterfly and pretend to order, and they will tell you if a certain size will or will not work.

I have had 11x14s made at what is now CVS. It was many years ago, before digital, but they are still framed and on the walls. smile.gif
