Trying to get a new workbook working - having some issues here (Excel 2003)
Sheet 1 is named Summary.
Sheet 2 is named Data
Sheet 2 has all the data for some chemical recipes - row 1 is the recipe name, below that are the specs and data for each one.
Trying to get a hlookup on the summary sheet to work. I have a named range on the Data sheet of the first row (the names) called ResinList. I then in various cells on the first sheet use formulas like =HLOOKUP($B$3,Data!$1:$60007,7,FALSE) where B3 is a cell on that summary sheet where the user can select (from a data validation dropbox) the name of the resin they need info on.
It works, sometimes. The problem comes in that some resin names are just numbers, and some are letters. The numberic names work fine. Text names give #value! errors in the hlookup cells.
Cell b3 is formatted general. If I format it as text, ALL entries give value errors. Likewise, if I enter the resin names as text (ie '1234 instead of just 1234) all entries give errors. Just formatting the names as text (cell properties) does NOT cause errors, and it makes no difference whether I format the row as text or general.
HELP! I'm about to lose some hair here... all the online references seem to say this shouldn't be an issue, or that formatting everything as text should solve it.
