Heya i have a linksys PAP2 verison frimware 3.1.4....and i bought it from MED technologies and i tried all the vonage codes and i still cannot get to enalbe the web interface! ? Is there a master code or a hack to get the default code ..? I cannot acess the web or anything they setup a password i have no clue ....Now they are bankrupt and they took off...So i cannot call them there gone! So how could i unlock this thanks guy taking your time and helping me ! Thanks ^_^ banana.gif

Try packet sniffing for the provisioning server and transport method (i.e. tftp, http, etc.) the adapter is hopefully trying to access. In the event it accepts plain text XML files, you may be able to spoof an environment similar to the Vonage 3.1.9 unlock method to feed the adapter an "unlocking" XML file.

BTW, without the web interface enabled, I don't even think DogFace05 @ BroadBandReports.com can help you.

How would i do this method TFTP? way when i set it up and i hit enter in the web browser it says "no link such as this" how would i send a plain XML file where could i download it? i send it by TFTP server? it should accept that right? then i would be to unlocking it? Really confused thats for the reply ^_^ thanks a lot !

Read up on the existing PAP2 Unlocking Thread (for Vonage PAP2 adapters). The 3.1.7 (and higher) method involves using a TFTP server, so familiarize yourself w/ how that method works.

Since that thread is specific to Vonage adapters, you would need to run a Packet Sniffer program (such as WireShark) to see what server(s) your non-Vonage PAP2 is attempting to connect to. It could be attempting to connect via HTTP (TCP port 80), HTTPS (TCP port 443), TFTP (UDP port 69), etc.

Using a Packet Sniffer is somewhat of an advanced topic, so if doing so seems overwhelming, try enlisting local support from someone who has more network knowledge/experience. Otherwise, use Google to learn about the various topics and see how much you can teach yourself.

Tried it give me "Time out from 192.168.x.xxx" i got it all setup O.o? I entered it the Linksys pap2 timed out ... Im pretty sure it was setup all correct

You'll have to provide considerably more detail about what your setup was, what you tried, etc. for me to try and begin to offer additional suggestions.

So i setup a solarwind FTP 192.168.1.64 it worked fine started it hook up my linksys pap2 to the router got the software then i got the ip form the linksys pap2 it was 192.168.0.105 ( put the software in FTP )

next i hit enter in my browser ( http://192.168.0.105/upgrade?tftp://192.16...4/SP2K-PAP2.bin )

firefox takes 2 min to load then it gives me ERROR " Request was timed out 192.168.0.105 is taking too long to respond " Thats all i did and thats what error i get...?

The URL you navigated to above certainly won't work because you've already stated that you can't get to the web interface on your PAP2. Without an accessible web interface, URL's don't get processed by the adapter.

Expanding on my previous suggestion of PACKET SNIFFING, once you know what server your PAP2 is automatically try to provision from, you can setup a localized environment (much like is done w/ the Vonage 3.1.7+ unlocking process) spoofing whatever server(s) your adapter is trying to access. If the adapter attempts to TFTP data, then having SolarWinds installed is a good first step.

To figure out what server(s) your adapter may be trying to automatically provision from though will require PACKET SNIFFING. I suggest connecting your PAP2 to your PC via a CROSSOVER CABLE (with a DHCP Server such as ICS running on your PC). Then, with a PACKET SNIFFER program open, power on the PAP2 and see what network activity it makes. That'll hopefully give you a starting point. You may need to repeat the process a few times as you expand your spoofed environment w/ server names, etc.

This is neither an easy nor quick process (even for someone w/ advanced skills), so be prepared to devote time (and frustration) to this.

Okay so i found out what it is trying to acess...What would be the next step?

( If you have msn add me b1836@hotmail.com ) It would be much faster on msn or yahoo or such online instant talking .... It be way better then forums =) but okay......

If it's trying to access a TFTP server, then follow the procedure of POST #326 in the big "PAP2 Unlocking Thread," only modify your "hosts" file to point to the domain name(s) your adapter is trying to access instead (i.e. instead of "ls.tftp.vonage.net" and "httpconfig.vonage.net," use the server names your PAP2 is trying to access).

Thats all i do? Do i have to enter anything on my web broswer?

Will the pap2 think it's download from my company and download the file i put and be unlocked?

*I'll post some screenshots when i come back*

No, but it's a start.

No. With automatic provisioning, the PAP2 requests a provisioning file from some "source" server, be it a TFTP server, an HTTP server, etc. Your job is to figure out what "source" server it's trying to access and what specific file(s) it's requesting.

Don't know. You'll need to stage the precise file(s) it's seeking though. The big unknown is whether your adapter will process "plain text" XML files.
If it doesn't, and if you can't get your hands on a real (i.e. encypted) XML file from the provider's "real" server, your unlock attempt will likely fail.

If that's the IP of the PAP2, then in the log you posted, I haven't seen any activity from the PAP2 where it's made any kind of TFTP or HTTP request.

If you can power cycle your PAP2 while the packet sniffer is in the midst of capturing all traffic on your PC's ETHERNET PORT, hopefully once the PAP2 powers back up, you'll see what it's attempting to connect to.
cooldude12
How would i "power cycle" what is that even could you explain and yes i didn't notice any requests either..
TheDiggler
Power Cycle:
Unplug the AC adapter from the back of the PAP2, plug it back in.
cooldude12
Wow long time no reply , Nothing no responds. Only saying " Who has 192.1.1.BLAH " , nothing else waited for 3 min with power cycle.

Any luck getting the adapter's web interface open???

Without a web interace, and w/o wireshark giving you more details, it sounds like you have a fancy door stop at this point.

I can't force you to stay, but you may want to check in from time to time. In the event I have a brainstorm of an idea (ya know, one I steal from someone else wink.gif), I'll bump this thread. smile.gif
cooldude12
Alright i'll be here checking , just post the brain storm thanks , Lolz. =)
