Long story short, I own a buffalo WHR-HP-G54 flashed with DD-WRT. Wanted to get some support on it (which means I couldn't find my manual =) ) and came across the link above.
I ain't no patent lawyer, so I'm a little confused on the matter. I did a bit of digging in Google but nothing really clears things up for the layperson.
So Buffalo infringed on some patents when the patent holder was about to make 802.11a/g standard? Sounds like other companies are involved in this infringment, including Netgear, yet I can buy a Netgear router, but not Buffalo? Why isn't the entire market of a/g products affected? Is it because Buffalo is a Japanese company so US is upholding the Japanese patent? I'm pretty much confused...wikipedia mentions it, but really doesn't go into why.
Just wondering if somebody knows something about it or can figure out what the statement means. I love my Buffalo router (ok...I love DD-WRT more) but it occasionally started rebooting itself spontaneously and I'm worried it's a sign that I'll have to get another router soon. I am upgraded to v24RC5 in hopes of maybe the reflash will help.
