Google missed analyst estimates by a penny and the stock is getting hammered in after hours trading. Went as low as $507.45, rallied a little to just over $530 and now it's dipping below $520. Down 45 points (over 7%). It will continue to fluctuate and will be interesting to watch.

I'm going to have to look at this as a buying opportunity.

Can we blame this on losses?
Alan
Hope you didn't act upon the buying opportunity yet. Closed at $495.43. It's down 251 points since it's high in November and 196 points so far this year. Personally if I was considering a stock purchase I'd like to buy it here, but as it's going UP, not down.

Points = dollars?

Yes.

Ah, I did consider buying then, but I didn't pull the trigger. I'm glad I didn't buy, but may consider it once it starts turning around.

clearly not affecting their starting salaries. makes my starting wage after law school look like a pittance for the three years opportunity cost + tuition. no.gif

they've raised starting salaries 32% in 1.5 years.

consulting, ibanking, and biglaw are the tools of the man to keep me down and out, far away from any startup. dry.gif

i think the man wins for a while. esp. with the $40-50k in debt I'm going to need to pay down. and after that there's a mortgage, car payments, and more. i think the man wins for eternity.

I doubt everyone coming in is getting 130k (if anyone...) keep in mind google can cherry pick their new hires since just about everyone in the world sends them their resume. still, good money, even in california tongue.gif

probably $150k if they take you.

you gotta understand the logic of those salaries. they're only available to recent college grads, from top school, and you're expected to put 80hr/wks as necessary...

oh, and $130k doesn't go as far as you might think when a 1 bedroom condo costs $600k. the whole subprime thing has not hit the expensive parts of the bay area by more than 10%.

what about renting? I feel like looking at the cost of buying gives a very different cost of living adjustment vs the cost of renting...not that I know from experience, but I've wondered if it's informative to look at it both ways
