So it looks as if this year is a year to get a portable GPS unit. I am personally going to be getting one and since I really dont know alot about them I am asking your help. Out of all of them on sale this year what do you think is the best one. Also maybe there is others like myself but are looking at certain budgets. Maybe we can get a list by amount of the top portable GPS units.

Since, this is your first one I will go ahead with the bestbuy $119 for the TomTOm LE - is a no brainer.

They have really come down in price! We have a Magellan with a long battery life that is really nice. It tells you the names of the streets as you are making your turns. This is an excellent feature if you live in an area with a lot of criss-crossing elevated roads. The reason being that if you get one that says right turn or second right at the rotary, etc without a road name it can get confusing. The GPS can have troubles. Even the Magellan has a mini-fit in San Antonio a few times but with the street names being spoken out loud it was easier to distinguish what exit, road, etc to take. If you live in the metro-NYC area, get one that has a spoken-road-type feature. The one we have without this feature used to be a lot of fun rolleyesold.gif especially in No. NJ.

Budget and the features you're looking for are important to think about.
