I am looking at 2 computers - which one looks better? I am leaning towards the smaller one. Any advice??

If price is not a factor, definitely the 2nd one.

Much better processor (faster & uses less electricity, IIRC) & same number of pixels on the screen.

I like the larger screen size of Computer 1 and it seems to support more graphics memory. That would sway my decision over Computer 2. However, I like Computer 2 due to the better processor and having a PC Card slot vs. the Express Card slot in Computer 1. Personally, I really don't care about the built in web cam in Computer 1 nor the Fingerprint reader in Computer 2 so that doesn't figure into my decision.

My old notebook had a 12" and it was great, but it wasn't a widescreen. The 12" widescreens are too small for me personally, but it's a matter of personal preference really. I would say to go to a store and play around with a 12" model to see if you like it. If you do I'd go with computer 2, otherwise Computer 1.

Price is about the same - the second one is a demo unit, probably older model.

I do like the smaller size for portability, but with Vista, the graphics becomes an issue. It is a 12 inch widescreen, so that should be OK. I also like the PC Card over the express card. That is why I am in a quandry. I guess I should try to use the smaller unit and see. Decisions, decisions.....

Don't forget, that free laptop deal in IRD is still going :-)

Did that, but will sell that laptop - I want to get something a little better to suit my needs.

Keep in mind the hassles of Toshiba warranty support. Toshiba requires that you *bring your laptop* to a local service center to get service. It might be worthwhile for you to see where a local service center is (look here). In my case, the closest center (and I believe the only one in NH) is something like 40-45 minutes away from me sad.gif
