† You must apply online at citibank.com or by phone to open a Citibank® Ultimate Savings account in one of the following qualifying relationship packages: Citibank® EZ Checking, Citibank Account, Citibank Everything Counts® or Citigold® Account relationship package. No monthly maintenance fees apply when held as a stand-alone account in a Citibank Account relationship package.

So do you need to open an additional account(checking) to receive the $100 bonus?

Notice the "†" symbol next to the "No Monthly Fees†" condition.

Down at the bottom it says:

Those "relationship packages" probably all have minimum balances. EZ Checking, I believe, requries a $1,500 minimum balance to avoid any monthly fees.

P.S. This thread should be moved to the B$ Travel & Finance Forum.

*EDIT* Looks like ebytes beat me by a minute about the "gotcha."

Doesn't that just apply to the No Monthly Fees? That is where the footnote symbol leads. The $100 footnote doesn't appear to have this term.

"No monthly maintenance fees apply when held as a stand-alone account in a Citibank Account relationship package."

BTW - Offer still good as of Sept. 23, 2007
