On my laptop, I have installed ATT/Yahoo's parental controls. Therefore, we have to sign in to ATT/Yahoo before using the internet. ATT/Yahoo DSL is what we use at home.
I was out of town last week and the hotel offered free wireless in the lobby. My laptop connected to the network sucessfully. But when I tried to sign into ATT/Yahoo, I was repeatedly told my login was not allowed. Not sure of the exact error message, I can't remember, but I tried on several occasions and was never allowed to sign in to ATT/Yahoo. Therefore I could not connect to the internet. Axim connected with no problems.
I've successfully connected to neighbor's unsecured routers with no problem.
Returned home, and was again able to sign into ATT/Yahoo with no problems.
What's up with that??????? Couldn't find anything on their help pages.
If you are at a hotel you do not need to sign in to ATT/Yahoo DSL because you are already given access to the Hotel's ISP. So all you need to do once connected is open up a browser and you should have internet access. You may have to fill out a page with credentials the Hotel gives you, but you do not need the stuff you use from home unless you want to check your email, which in case you just go to your att/yahoo email page and sign in there.

I have to sign in to ATT because of the parental controls. It won't let me open a browswer until I'm signed in. Signing in at home before and after trip was fine, but at the hotel was a no-go. I couldn't even disable the parental controls, becuase I have to sign in to do that, and I couldn't sign in!
The girls use the laptop a lot, which is why it's set up this way.
if that's the case, you'll need to ask ATT how to disable that software when you're on the go, and not actually using the ATT sign-in software.

I would consider getting a 3rd party parental control software. Any software that only allows you to edit after online login may cause serious headaches down the road.
I wish I knew more about your setup so I could help, but I've never seen something setup that way. Maybe another user has the same setup and can help. For now all I can do is agree with Krunk and say give ATT a call.
