They previously had a $50 sign on bonus back in March. Still contemplating if I should open a Citibank account. Thanks!

No minimum deposit? That would be a great deal!

first-time Citibank deposit account customers only

I hate that restriction. I had a CitiBank account once about 8 years ago, so I can't get this bonus now? Crazy. They should make it "within the last 2 years" or something.

What's The Citibank Account?
It's a Citibank account Pricing Package that offers Interest or Regular Checking —plus free services including online bill payment.

Here's a quick rundown:

* Balance. To avoid monthly fees, you need to maintain a $6,000 combined average balance — an easy goal to reach. Why? Because so many accounts go toward it: Checking, Savings, CDs, Money Market, Lines, Loans, Mortgage and Brokerage (to qualify, accounts must be linked to your ATM/Debit Card.)1
* Monthly Fee. None, if you meet the required balance.
If not, in NY, NJ and CT, it's $9.50 for Regular Checking and $12.50 for Interest Checking. In all other states, it's $12.50 for Regular Checking and $15 for Interest Checking.
* Checks. Free if you meet the required balance. If not, $.50 per check.
* ATM Use. Free unlimited use of Citibank ATMs. Use of non-Citibank ATMs is also free if you meet the required balance. If not, $1 per use.2
* Fee Rebates. Save up to $36 a year just by using Direct Deposit, Bill Payment or Automatic Deductions!
* Free Services. Online bill payment, online bank statements, wireless and e-mail banking alerts.

1 Other Citibank products may contribute to your combined balance. Call 1-800-374-9700 for details.
2 Fees charged by other institutions for your transactions on non-Citibank ATMs are beyond Citibank's control and are in addition to this fee.

I am actually thinking to reopen a Citibank account. In January I closed the previous one (opened since the old days for that $150/$1500 bonus) because they shipped the replacement ATM card to my old address although I called and send mails to them serveral times to update.

One big benifit of using a Citibank account is they give you thank-you points for writing a check to pay rent. That's 15000 extra points for me each year.

I currently have an AT&T Universal credit card, which has Thanks You points. How would I apply my current credit card to the Ultimate savings account to earn Thank You points? TIA. smile.gif

All the thank you points would be combined into your Thank You account.

However, credit card Thank You points are earned separately.

In order to gain points for the Ultimate savings account ... you would need two other Citibank products. (Fairly easy to throw in a checking account, debit card, CD, billpay, direct deposit)

citi's banking-earn-points system is the most complecated I have ever seen. We need a banking expert member to explain the whole thing.

This is very tempting, even though there's a hard credit pull with sign up...
