The kid who works at my mechanic's shop has been asking me this for a while but I keep forgetting to post it here. He has a PS2 and wants to make backup copies of his DVD (CD?, I am not a gamer) games like he could on his old system. He was told that he needs to get a special program or something to be able to do it.

What does he need to do or get, or is it possible at all?

A quick search shows that some PS2 units can be modded with a chip (he probably can't do this type of thing) but I did come across this:
QUOTE
PS2 Boot Discs
A copy alternative that's gaining momentum-boot discs. You place these discs in your PS2 console before inserting your backup copy. This method doesn't require cracking open the console case or soldering wires, and so does not void your warranty.

Does anyone have any more info on making these "boot" discs?
