Have laptop with the capability to hook up a larger monitor. Is this VGA? I want to go from the laptop to tv that has rca jack. Am I looking for a vga to rca? Looked around and saw vga to 3 rca jacks, handles video and audio. Is this all I need? Where can I find cheapo?

This might do what you want, but it does not do anything for the audio...

Oh, hang on a bit - I just read this comment in the product reviews:
QUOTE
-People complaining that you can no connect a laptop to a TV need to know that it is becasue you computer outputs in RGB and your TV needs NTSC. If you want to do this, you will need a converter like this one: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product....at=2&style=

-Beware! This will likely NOT work with a laptop that has VGA out. I have tried it on 3 different laptops, and none work. Would be a great deal if it works, but it doesn''t :{

-This adapter simply does not work with laptops. MY laptop has vga out and supports tv-out but this adapter does not work!
It makes you wonder why legit stores like radioshack or bestbuy dont carry these adapters...most likely because they rarely ever work...flimsy design is suspicious to me.

Maybe this will not work for you after all...

these adapters are only suppose to work if your graphics cards supports TV-out. in that case, most graphics cards that support TV out should also be supporting S-video. so people who purchases these adapters are generally have graphics cards that don't support TV-out and which case fails.

So, I have to buy the item and basically trial and error at home with the tv set and the laptop? Could I take my laptop and do the trial and error on one of their tv set at Radio Shack (I guess they have it)? Is it tv specific or the laptop card specific? I certainly don't want to order online to find out it does not work.

How about if I get a vga to s-video and get s-video to rca? Or would it be the same? Unfortunatley, my laptop does not have s-vid.

I think the point is, if your laptop does not have s-video, then it probably will not support that specific converter.
