15 ways stores trick you into spending

Just a FYI for those who haven't noticed these tactics that stores use to get you to buy stuff you don't need and pay premium prices for it.

seems like all these "tricks" are aimed at getting you to give into impulse buying. if you can train yourself to not be an impulse shopper (like training yourself to recognize a credit card as a loan and not free money), you should be OK.

even better, do all your shopping online when possible smile.gif

I like the "How Can I Fight Back" section.

Dude, just don't buy anything when you're there. You don't need a list of 10 tricks to fight back.

That was an interesting article.

But usually whenever I go to a store, I head straight for where I want to go, without ever getting a cart unless I know I need one. Then I end up not getting anything at all because the thing I wanted is OoS. blushing.gif

Probably about 85% of the shopping I do is online. smile.gif

yeah, generally in tiny print. And sometimes they will vary the units to pounds, for example, with smaller units being in ounces. Some people don't like doing math on their time off.....

Obviously those who are deal-hunting veterans or just born with a nose for a bargain, won't make these mistakes. But I know there are new members on the board who may aspire to improve....
