QUOTE Google will find all the Belarc Advisor Current Profile pages that organizations and people have posted on the internet. If you sift through the results, you will quickly find hundreds if not thousands of valid XP product keys. You will also find any number of other product keys for other software including Macromedia, Adobe and Symantec." Run a search in google for "Windows XP Professional" "Belarc Advisor Current Profile" key: Software keys are exposed. |

Ha, some people are using keys that have been out on the Internet for a while. It's like they're advertising "I have pirated software". Some of the belarc pages include the users full name, mac and IP addresses
Some of the keys you'll find are manufacturer license keys and may not be able to be used with CD versions of the software. It can also be difficult to determine if the key is for OEM, upgrade or full retail versions. Funny anyway. |

I saw some that were <removed for security reasons>... maybe Belarc already has an option that can prevent this...?

QUOTE Google Copies Your Hard Drive - Government Smiles in Anticipation Consumers Should Not Use New Google Desktop San Francisco - Google today announced a new "feature" of its Google Desktop software that greatly increases the risk to consumer privacy. If a consumer chooses to use it, the new "Search Across Computers" feature will store copies of the user's Word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets and other text-based documents on Google's own servers, to enable searching from any one of the user's computers. EFF urges consumers not to use this feature, because it will make their personal data more vulnerable to subpoenas from the government and possibly private litigants, while providing a convenient one-stop-shop for hackers who've obtained a user's Google password. Bet you can get thousands of social security numbers too after millions of people start uploading their documents. |

QUOTE The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server. from belarc.com - they might have to revise that statement |
