Okay so I'm installing a new hard drive in Windows XP and of course it doesn't support drives larger than 137GB by default so I had to go through the process of adding the EnableBigLba registry key before I could even partition, and I'm reading on Microsoft's support page the following statement:
QUOTE
Windows XP includes 48-bit LBA support for ATAPI disk drives that can enable the capacity of your hard disk to exceed the current 137 GB limit. This type of support is new technology and Microsoft has only tested a limited number of these disk drives. By default, Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional do not have 48-bit LBA support enabled.

Well the fact that it's not enabled by default makes me a little worried about the whole thing, so I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with the 48-bit LBA support. Also, I was wondering if people have had any problems with bumping up the allocation unit size when formatting drives because the drop down option goes up to 64K and I'm thinking that since this drive will mostly be used for storing movies that an increase in the cluster size might be a good thing, maybe not 64K but definitely higher than the default.
