Make Money On HP Smart Buy Connectivity Starter Kit

BornAgainStar
+ post 8-3-07, 11:20am | Post #1
Smart Buy Starter Kit Belkin 7OUT Surge/LAN Cable/USB Printer Cable - $12.16 @ ProVantage

$20 Rebate

The rebate allows up to 5. With shipping on a quantity of 5, it came out to about $85. You can order this from anywhere, but ProV had the lowest price. Plus, they have very good ratings. The rebate also allows you to get other products, but this seemed the best I could find. Feel free to post more.

Get connected with everything you need in one kit -- surge protector, local area network (LAN) cable and USB printer cable.

$34.90 shipping to PA?!?!?!

Still a nice deal. But since I'm only making $5 on it, I think I'll pass since I don't need the surge protectors or cables.

Just change the quantity to 4 and shipping will go down by about $15.00. It is only $19.35, if you order 4, so you can make about $12.00 on 4.

I just ordered 4 and the total is about $67.99. Following is the breakdown

Subtotal: 48.64
Shipping: 19.35
Total Order: $ 67.99

Not many quantities left so be quick...

Weird...

Three incurs an S&H charge of $19.45.
Four incurs a charge of $23.45.
Five incurs a charge of $56.10.

WTH?

Either way, I'm in for four!

A hint to those who might find a better price (as the rebate is not exclusive to Provantage)

The description is rather long, just search for the part number:
RT174AT

I got better results that way. Still didn't turn up anything better, yet.....

Those figures will vary by state, but yeah, 4 is a big step down from 5; perhaps since 5 has become a popular order amount, their system jacks up shipping costs....

I do remember noting strange shipping phenomenon with companies like Provantage, bit I forgot. Thanks for the quantity experiment, sidanj!

I looked over at a major distributor site and found "desktop refurbished" available with a 30 day warranty. Is Proadvantage shipping "new" kits or not?

That's strange. It only showed $22.85 for me. They must have started raising shipping prices based on popularity.

Not ripped from another board. I got the rebate form from another retailer, but you can verify it here at TechDepot.

where's the rebate form?
i found another site that looks promising

but i wanna read the particulars first.

i found them for $73.85 for 5 shipped ($26+ profit sounds good to me)

***EDIT*** read the form, it does mention on the bottom that they must be purchased from an authorized HP reseller
resellers can be found here
http://hp.via.infonow.net/locator/us_partner/index.jsp

the company i found doesn't look to be an authorized reseller
the hunt continues

My order hasn't been changed, and I haven't received an OOS email yet.

I think I'm going to print out a copy of my invoice, in case Provantage tries anything fishy.
